Most of my art is created by listening to groovy jams and soulful sounds. Because music is a very big part of my life, this part of my website is dedicated to all the sounds that get me through the good times, the tough times, the creative times, and the stressed times. Enjoy!

November 2019. Billie Eilish. |
Billie Eilish is an enigma. Her voice, music and message all revolve around this ever evolving nature our younger generation is experiencing. Her dynamic nature of expressing music allows her to reach deep into our hearts to leave memorable marks.
I'm learning that repressed emotions can manifest into physical symptoms of illnesses and diseases. This song pulls at my heartstrings because it has a melancholy feeling that expresses internal sadness but external hopefulness. A sadness that you can't pinpoint any reason to it, but feel it nonetheless.
Whenever you feel intense, deep emotions, take some time to feel them. Be with them, and learn from them. This song hits home to how complex human lives are when dealing with internal struggles. We all have constant reassurances that our lives are going a certain, hopeful way, but sometimes we feel that these positive words don't mean a thing in the moment. But they do matter. Eventually, we will figure out how to conquer our own battles, but in the meantime, hopeful, encouraging words can really help us along the way.
Tell the people you love that you love them. Check-in with those you care about and make sure they're doing okay. If someone pops into your mind that you haven't heard from awhile and you're curious to know how they're doing, say hello.
Life's too short to not care. A 'like', comment, or message can show others that you've crossed their minds. Even if we don't think they help now, they will.

July 2019. Khruangbin.
"A Khruangbin is an airplane. Our bio says “engine fly”, which is the literal translation of the Thai word, and our favourite way of describing it. It’s an homage to the Thai rock/funk that inspired the formation of the band, and the airplane symbolizes the international set of influences that shaped our music. " -LL
These guys are groovy, global, and overall a great experience to listen to. Their music has thai influences, as well as a 60s-70s vibe with some Mediterranean melodies played along with some kickass funky roots basslines. Instead of vocals carrying the song to completion, Khruangbin uses complex, yet rhythmic guitar riffs to turn heads and keep them turned. Considered as instrumental music, you would think it's great music to put on in the background while you do work, study, etc...And while it's definitely great for that, be aware that the synchronicity and hypnotizing mood of their music will literally make you stop in your tracks and say, "oOoOooOh now that's something else." I can't even get started on how incredible the drummer is. His timing and consistency is dreamy all on its own.
For instance, I love watching their live shows on youtube. There have been several times that I lost track of what I was doing and found myself watching them perform, getting lost in a state of rhythmic rapture. These guys are a force to be reckoned with.
To learn more about them, Ransom Note did an awesome interview with them, and you can read about it here: https://www.theransomnote.com/music/interviews/introducing-khruangbin/
Enjoy!

July 2019. Ocean Alley.
Back in May 2019 when I saw them play at Cali Roots in Monterey, CA, it was my second time seeing them play live, and they are a force to be reckoned with. This soulful, groovy, reggae fusion, rock band incorporates a cornucopia of sound that makes me feel relaxed and at ease no matter what situation I'm in. Ironically enough, It's been a bit stressful in Maui as I finalize my mural sketch...I just want it complete so I can transfer and start painting! Cause that's truly when the fun, creative flow begins ;) Ocean Alley's music has been keeping me relaxed, and once you give them a listen, I hope you find yourself at ease, too :)
